Tomato Curry Pan

It is called curry pan (curry bread), and while I can’t speak to its origins, it is good stuff. Although I’ve known of its existence for some time, I never asked what was in it. Today I finally stopped into the panya (a fresh bread store) and took a look.

Turns out they make curry pan with a tomato curry that does not have any meat ingredients: success! I got some to go and took it home with me.

It was as everyone else had said: the best thing since coconut milk ice cream. While the taste is something like a high collar hot pocket, this is probably a good thing since tasty foods stuffed inside of other tasty foods seems to be a pleasant theme.

I’m not yet sure on how easy it would be to make at home, probably a bit like making a calzone, but more Indian. With curry being an incredibly creative sort of dish, you can imagine the possibilities with curry pan.

Nabisco Nutter Butters

The other day I was thinking about how much I liked Nutter Butters, and I decided to drop Nabisco a line to see what kind of sugar they used in their products. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to have any sort of consistent practice. This is probably to due different production facilities, suppliers, and prices, which makes sense. However, it does make it difficult to tell if their sugar uses bone char.

Hi Benjamin,

Thank you for visiting http://www.nabiscoworld.com .

Thank you for contacting us regarding the Nutter Butter Cookies.

The information that I have regarding you inquiry if the Nutter Butter Cookies are vegan is as follows:

I understand that knowing what ingredients are in the food products you eat directly affect how you practice your religion/dietary lifestyle, and Kraft Foods does all that it can to assist its consumers in making educated food decisions.

I apologize but unfortunately this ingredient information is not currently available.

As you can imagine our products change frequently, and maintaining a list of products for specific dietary practices would be virtually impossible.

In addition, in general, our products are analyzed for total sugars as opposed to specific types of sugar.

When sugar is listed as an ingredient, it refers to sucrose (table sugar).

Sucrose in our products can come from either sugar cane or sugar beets, depending on availability.

Sucrose is the same whether it comes from sugar cane or sugar beets.

“Sugars” as listed on the Nutrition Facts panel represents the total sugars in the product, not just sucrose.

“Sugars” refers to any sugar in a product that is added, naturally occurring or both.

An example of a naturally occurring sugar is the lactose in dairy products or fructose in fruits.

An example of an added sugar is sucrose (table sugar).

Thank you for taking the time to contact the consumer service center.

If you haven’t done so already, please add our site to your favorites and visit us again soon!

I hate to say it, but that interesting raw girl I met the other day over curry has started to enter my stomach like a tapeworm. I never used to like Larabars, but at her prodding, I went and got an Apple Pie Larabar after my bike ride today hoping they would be a little less sugary and a little more natural-tasting than the Luna Bars (nutrition for women!) that I usually eat.

Much to my chagrin, I rather liked it. It’s not perfect, still a little too sweet for my tastes, but it’s definitely better than the candy-like stuff that I usually end up eat as a recovery snack, so I think I may have to make the switch. Besides, they’re only 10 cents more and have lots of good stuff in them, so I guess it’s not so bad.

Anyway, for anyone who hasn’t tried them, don’t let the first horribly flavoured Larabar you eat turn you off from the rest of the flavours, some of them can be pretty good.

Rice Cakes and Peanut Butter

No better place to store food than on a window sill, right? It keeps it close to me as I study in bed, but without cluttering up the actual bed – genius!

Once the great sugar debate is settled, it’s clear that you need plain rice cakes and some sort of organic or natural peanut butter. That said, let me take a minute to praise Teddy Peanut Butter for being THE BEST PEANUT BUTTER EVER!

Not only is it natural (you can get organic too, but not with fake money at the on campus store), but the oil doesn’t separate at all, which makes it uberconvenient for the road. What’s more, it’s fairly inexpensive for good quality peanut butter.

I discovered this snack a while ago, but just rediscovered is a good road food while away for cycling. I urge you all to try it out, it’s both light and satisfying, and probably won’t make you too fat.

Does anyone else have some great rice cake snacks?
